Lapland

Were you or did I have a dream? And is it possible to dream of an disorganized trip?

Lapland became a pilgrimage center for Israelis. The area has a name for “Must Have an Organized Trip”- Rimon, Aviation Relations and Natar offer a week packed with attractions on charter flights directly to Rubenimi 830 km north of Helsinki.

There’s something comfortable about an organised trip, no worries – taking you back, bringing you back, positioning you – in short, spoon-feeding you. The problem is. That some people are allergic to organized trips.
The problem with planning a trip to a place like this is that there is no room for error, the planning should be accurate and meticulous. The privilege of landing in Rubiniami is cancelled, and flights can be found as far as Helsinki– from there on a connecting flight or train to Rubinami. But- disadvantage can be turned into an advantage, and the lemon can be turned into lemonade, and enjoy a day trip to the capital of Pindland-Helsincki. The Lesniki is a soft landing before going up to the North Pole.

Helsniki. TOP 3

  • In Helsniki you can meet for the first time in the Finnish sauna, in a complex called Allas pool. The place is on the edge of the frozen sea, after a quick heating in the sauna, go out to the beach in a bathing suit and dip in two pools, one, warm at 27 degrees. The second (particularly brave)- frozen ice water at minus 3 degrees.
  • Boat to the island of Suomenlinna Fort – the cost of the cruise is EUR 5. And she leaves by the sauna complex to the island. Because the sea is frozen, the boat acts like an icebreaker. On the island you can have coffee in one of the cafes or eat for the first time the famous salmon soup and the northern-beaked ale steak of Scandinavia’s meat and fur. The first building you’ll meet is called Tourist information, where you can get information about hiking trails on the island.
  • In Helsinki you can meet bakery restaurants, but the highlight is a lovely Irish pub called Molly Bloom’s. The open bar for any age where you can enjoy live local performances and a huge selection of beers. Address: Vihelmsgatan 4.

On an hour and a half flight from Helsniki airport we arrived in Lapland. The three goals we faced were renting a car, shopping and arriving at the cabin we rented and borrowing the hot suits from Lapland Safari.

  • We rented the car from Avis.
  • We rented the stunning chalet (with a kind cabin owner) through AIRBNB  – From France Link:
  • And most of the shopping we did at K-MARKET.

Lapland. 7 TOP

I will start by saying that the first three attractions I will present our work through Lapland Safari, which in return brought us the hot suits, shoes and socks for all The length of our week of stay (in the cold of minus 36 degrees – it’s critical!)

  • Husky Dog Sleds- Experience Like in the movies. Each sleigh will have two people, one of whom will drive and one will sit. It is important to know that a child Until the age of 16, you have to sit on the sleigh accompanied only by a guide – a family member will not be allowed to wear it. After the husky dog sleds, guests can enjoy a warm cabin, a cup of local tea and gingerbeds.
  • A snowmobile ride combined with ice fishing – an experience in which every snowmobile will have a driver behind it and another person behind it. For planners to drive- it is important that you come with an international license. As part of the experience, you will travel about 10 kilometers on snowmobiles after which the guides will teach you about the local ice fishing experience. We added lunch which included fish (fished and grilled at the moment) and sausages-recommended!
  • Local bike trip – bike ride with wide tires (with low air pressure) adapted for snow riding. The trip offers a climb with a local guide to the mountain, a view and a chocolate at the Sky Hotel. And.. Don’t worry about it! The bikes are electric and the gas can be pressed on any ascent- and for those who are not good for the cult, even in the rest of the track
  • The northernmost zoo in the world. The zoo is in Ranua. There you can see animals adapted to the snow like Polar bears, wolves, foxes – and of course reindeer. On the site you can find an ice igloo which is actually Hot drinking bar. Snowmobiles are recommended to take you from the entrance– there are places with descents that you can Surf them.

A recommended local restaurant in the village is kotahovi where you can enjoy amazing salmon and mushroom soups, locally baked salmon, a children’s french fries and schnitzel, ale and mashed potatoes combined with local blueberries of all types, and the crown jewel– a local blueberry pie, don’t give up on it!!

At the ice castle you can take a peek at the ice rooms offered for accommodation, church and bar offering hot drinks. You can also pre-order dinner at the Ice Palace at a cost of EUR 43 per person. The meal is expensive and not recommended, hot drinks at the bar for 4 euros for the local tea is enough for the collection of experiences.

Before Trip to Lapland- TOP 5

Number Things you wouldn’t believe… But they’re going to upgrade your trip a few times!

  • Small heating bags (and it is important to have small ones)- you can bring from Israel/buy at the supermarket and at the attractions offices. It’s very good to put them under gloves or in your socks.
  • Termi clothing and vein for skiing – The clothing is the biggest preparation for the trip. If it’s cold, don’t have fun. This is one of the things that should not be mistaken, nor take risks.
  • Extreme insurance for family members for all attractions.
  • International driver’s license (for snowmobiles and car rental).
  • Google glasses that are usually used for skiing – in case you come across one of the attractions in a blizzard (a tip from a painful experience of penetrating snow in the eyes).

In summary,

  • Lapland was more than a dream!
  • You can also visit and plan a trip to Lapland independently.
  • It is important to be precise and calculated and to take care of the preliminary preparations in advance…
